The editor of the ‘Turn up/down the master volume’ hot key

In this window you can select the keys that the program will use to perform the specified action. You can assign two keys: primary and secondary. To select a hot key, you should place the text cursor in the corresponding field and press the required key combination on the keyboard. The program also supports the Win key (the key with a flag on it).

Attention! Some keyboard shortcuts with the Win key are reserved for using in the Windows Explorer and cannot be assigned to the plug-in actions. For example, such shortcuts are Win+E, Win+R, Win+D, Win+F, Win+L, Win+B, Win+M.

To make the selected hot key active, you should tick it off.

The OK button saves the performed changes and closes the editor. The Cancel button closes the editor without any changes.

Additional parameters

The number of steps when changing the master volume

This parameter specifies the number of steps to be taken by the volume to change from the lowest to the highest level. For example, if this parameter is set to 10, you will have to press the ‘Turn up the volume’ key 10 times for the volume to change from 0 to 100 percent. Thus, the lower this value is, the more fast and sharply the volume will be changed. And otherwise, if this value is high, the volume will be changed more slowly and smoothly.

Because of the sound card restrictions it is not recommended to set very large values. The optimal value is 15.

Use the logarithmic scale for the master volume

The plug-in supports two scales for regulating the master volume: linear and logarithmic. In the first case the volume is changed by equal steps. When this option is on, the volume is changed nonlinearly: if the current volume level is low, it will be changed by small steps, if the volume is high, the steps will be large.

The examples of volume changing scales with different values of the parameters ‘The number of steps...’ and ‘Use the logarithmic scale’:

By default, the most convenient scale is set — logarithmic, with 15 steps.
